The first week of Fall 2010 is done and I finally found some time to sample a few shows that have been on my radar. Like RPG, I will be listing what I have seen, my thoughts on it, and if I plan to keep watching it or blog about it.
So far I am potentially following 9 shows this season and there has only been 1 show that I really did not like. Usually I try to avoid shows I know I wouldn’t like by checking Chartfag’s charts as well as the seasonal preview on Random Curiosity. I decided to give it a 3 episode test rather than completely dropping it.
What I liked a lot:
A Certain Magical Index II
I’ve seen the first season as well as Railgun so it’s no surprise that Index 2 is one of my most anticipated shows this season. I will definitely keep watching this though I might leave it up to RPG to blog about it.
Yosuga no Sora
If I had to say one thing to describe this show, I guess I would go with “wincest”. So far it’s turned out to be a typical harem series with nice dose ecchi to go with it. This show was on my radar after seeing a certain figure for Sora. I’ll watch this but I definitely will not blog about it.
What turned out good:
Otome Youkai Zakuro
This was a last minute pick only because I heard Nakahara Mai, Hanazawa Kana, Toyosaki Aki, and Horie Yui would be in it. The art style is more shoujo-esque but that’s fine as it works for this show. I find it amusing that pretty boy Amegaki Kei is quite afraid of spirits yet it is his job to work with them. I’ll blog about this but probably not as in-depth as the others.
Maybe it was the card game advertisements on the back of Megami magazines or maybe it was Wolfheinrich’s dollfie that got me curious about this show. Either way, this show is on my watch list though I will not put a lot of expectations on it. I might blog about this after the first 3 episodes
Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls
Everyone seemed to dismiss this as then next Queen’s Blade and I am guilty of that as well. The biggest draw for me was the strong female voice actress cast. Sadly this is one of those shows where I’ll be turning my brain off. As for the chance of me blogging this, it’s quite low.
What turned out OK:
My little sister can’t be this cute
I have only read 10 chapters of the manga and I felt this show might not be worth my time. About a week ago I heard that the show is based on the novel rather than the manga so I figured one episode wouldn’t hurt. So far it has been within my expectations but I haven’t decided if I will blog this.
Looking for a show to fill in my mecha hunger, I decided to give this a try. All I can say is “FABULOUS!”. I’ll give this show the 3 episode test and hope they will fully explain what the deal is with the masks, funky outfits, and the odd-ball cult. If I do end up sticking with this, I might make short posts about it.
What turned me off:
Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
When I first heard about this, I facepalmed. I told myself that it was shit and will not watch. Fast forward to a week ago and /a/ is buzzing about this. I’m a sucker for good visuals so seeing screen caps from the transformation scene caught my interest. I never even made it to the transformation scene before quitting. Two days ago I decided to at least check out the scene and that was enough for me to keep watching the rest of the episode. I’m giving this the 3 episode test as well and so far episode 2 was not too bad. If I stick with this, it will also be one of those light posts but I really doubt I will go past 3 episodes.
RPG and I still need to decide on which shows we will be blogging about and who will be the primary blogger for shows that we both show an interest in. My posts will not be showing up until the last week of October due to a very busy schedule.
RPG will take care of Index II, Sora no Otoshimono, Yosuga no Sora, and My little sister can’t be this cute. I will take care of Fortune Arterial, The world God only knows, Otome Youkai Zakuro, and Star Driver.
RPG and I decided to not blog about Fortune Arterial and Yosuga no Sora. We might pick up Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls instead.
